Last weekend we were lucky enough to attend the filming for The Bleeding Land book trailer, the first novel in an epic new English Civil War trilogy by Giles Kristian.
The shoot took place in Ashby de la Launde just outside of Lincoln in the middle of the stunning grounds of the Grade II listed Ashby Hall. We spent a full day on set with Director Phil Stevens (who also directed trailers for Giles’ fabulous Raven Viking trilogy) and his amazing crew and learnt how to how to make fake blood and fire a Matchlock Musket amongst other things, the latter being much harder than it looks! Re-enactors were out in force demonstrating their staggering knowledge of this period in history and the attention to detail on their uniforms and actions was outstanding.
The camera used to film on the day was none other than the same one used for The Hobbit and Valhalla Rising so we are understandably incredibly exited to see the final trailer; it’s going to be marvelous.
